The Village of Rhinebeck requests bids for the planting of 5 trees. Trees and locations are attached. The trees will be delivered to the Village Highway Garage on Route 308 sometime before April 10, 2023. The Tree Commission will be coordinating the delivery of the trees and the timing of the plantings with the delivery company and the winning bidder.

The plantings are part of a project by the Village Tree Commission to beautify the entrances to the central business district.

·       Sites will be flagged with white flags as of April 4

·       Bids are due by noon on April 11

·       Pickup location for the trees is the Village highway garage, 282 Rt. 308.

·       Trees will be balled and burlaped

·       Basket size is 28 inches

·       Size is 2 to 2.5 inches DBH

·       Planting locations will be marked with white flags. Some are in lawns and some in the median between the curb and sidewalk

·       Some planting locations may need to be hand dug

·       Wire cages must be removed before planting

·       It is preferred that burlap be removed, but when not possible it must be cut away from tree trunk down 1/3 of root ball

·       Trees are to be staked with cedar stakes, mulched and watered upon planting

·       Work must be completed by April 21.

Because the work is along State Route 9, the contractor must be a Joint Applicant with the Village of Rhinebeck on NYS DOT PERM 33 (no utility).

Requirements from the DOT:

·       Forms (ACORDS 25/855/Workers’ Comp & Disability) must be completed by the contractor and delivered to the Village.
